Olympia Branch Members: we want your BEST - Photos that is! We're hosting a photo contest and we can't wait to show off your great photography skills to our community. Follow the instructions below to submit photos in one of 11 categories to win recognition and eternal bragging rights.
Who can participate?
All members of the Olympia Mountaineers.
Subject Matter
Only photos taken on a Mountaineers’ Activity (any branch). The activity must be posted on the Mountaineers website.

- Hiking and Backpacking
- Climbing
- Conservation
- Mountaineering Oriented First Aid
- Natural World
- Navigation
- Scrambling
- Sea Kayaking
- Wilderness Skills
- Winter Travel
- Youth Activities
Recognition
1st and 2nd in each category and a Best of Mountaineering Award. Winners will receive recognition on the Mountaineers’ website, and at the annual banquet and in similar outlets.
How to submit
Submit by email to Greg Lovelady: GregL12@comcast.net. Ensure the subject line reads: Olympia Branch Photo Contest. Images must be submitted on JPEG format. If you wish to submit via USB or thumb drive, contact Greg Lovelady. Each photo must be labeled with your name and the submission category.
Deadline for submission
October 1, 2016 by 5pm
Rules of contest
- Submission Limits: 10 per person total across all categories (We want your BEST).
- Categories: A photo can only be submitted in one category.
- Permission: Photos containing images of 1-3 recognizable individuals must be submitted only with the individual’s permission.
- The submitter will allow the Mountaineers to use photos in any Mountaineers publication, display or on-line media.
- Do not send photos that were entered in previous Olympia Mountaineers Photo contests.
- If less than 8 photos are received in more than one category, the photos will be judged in a new “Miscellaneous” category.
- Judges include one Olympia Mountaineer member (not submitting photos) and 2 outside judges.
