The Olympia Mountaineers have been sponsoring the Banff Film Festival for more than 20 years. We usually host our community screenings in December, but have moved the 2021 world tour to September due to COVID-19 concerns.
The show will be held at Capitol Theater, a historic building in downtown Olympia. It was built in 1924 and is run by the Olympia Film Society. With comfortable main floor and balcony seating and a state-of-the-art sound system, it is a perfect venue for immersing yourself in the action, excitement, and emotion of the films.
Tickets sell out well in advance of the showing, and the lines to get into Capitol Theater begin forming well over an hour before the doors open. For many, the evening includes a pre-show dinner with friends.
The Olympia Banff Committee organizes the film festival and selects the films from the Banff World Tour collection. A different set of films is shown each evening.
