Want to see your photography in a Mountaineers calendar? We're hosting a photo contest to create a 2018 calendar to be sold in our Seattle Program Center Bookstore. The grand-prize cover photo winner will receive a one-year subscription to Photoshop CC and Lightroom (courtesy of Abobe), a copy of the calendar, and their information/winning photo recognition in a blog post of the Mountaineers website.
We invite everyone to enter one more more photos. See below for how to play.
Rules
- Members of the Seattle branch (only) of The Mountaineers are eligible to submit up to three color images (no black & white photos) in the contest.
- The photograph must be the work of the entrant. Commercial prints are acceptable. An image may only be entered if it represents one of The Mountaineers' activities or committees (landscapes, nature, wild animals, hiking, backpacking, skiing, sailing, scrambling, climbing, etc). If people are in the photograph, they must be a Mountaineers member with a waiver on file with the club. All photo entries must be in a horizontal/landscape orientation and at least 4Mb in file size.
- Electronically manipulated photographs may be entered. Images must originate from a photograph taken by the entrant. Vector elements are not allowed. Other graphic elements must have be created by the maker in a photo editing software, (Photoshop, Elements etc.), but not in vector software such as Illustrator.
- Judging criteria shall be based on the elements of Impact/Interest, Composition, and Technical Quality. Judging will be done by three Mountaineers staff members and two outside judges.
- If your picture is selected, you will be asked to submit the image as a 10.125” tall by 12.25” wide at 300 dpi TIFF file in “specific color space”. If this final step is difficult for you, Calendar Committee members are prepared to help you. We don’t want technology to stand in the way of your great picture appearing in the calendar. Your submitted image will be retained as a color reference until the calendar is published.
Deadline
The contest runs April 1 - July 31, 2017. Photos and application should be uploaded to https://www.flickr.com/groups/2018calendar/ and the submission form emailed to mountaineers@anitaelder.com.
Prizes
12 winning photos will be selected to represent each month of 2018. Each winning photo will receive a copy of the calendar and their information/winning photo recognition in a blog post of the Mountaineers website. The winner's information will also be listed on that month of the calendar.
