Join us on Thursday, September 29 for an evening of good food, good company, and ample opportunities to support the next generation of climbers and outdoor explorers through our youth programs.
At this orientation dinner, we will be offering current and prospective youth volunteers information on the types of support we're looking for, as well as our two new youth leader badges; Youth and Family Hike Leader and Youth and Family Backpack Leader. These new leader types were approved at this year's Hike and Backpack Summit by representatives from each Mountaineers branch.
There are many different types of leadership certifications available at The Mountaineers, and one of the goals of the orientation is to help you understand them and how they relate to volunteering with youth. We hope you'll come away from the night with a solid understanding of what it takes to become a leader at The Mountaineers, and why it can be such a fulfilling way to give back.
What can I expect at the orientation dinner?
- Overview of Seattle Mountaineers youth programs and the ways in which you can volunteer
- Information about our two new youth leader badges
- Broader information on Mountaineers leader badges and how they relate to volunteering with youth
- Networking opportunities
