The Mountaineers is a unique community of hikers, climbers, paddlers, birders, and more coming together from all different walks of life to experience and enjoy the incredible landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. To celebrate this diversity and the joy that our community brings to every trip outside, we want to create a video for our annual Gala to showcase your adventures big and small. That means we’re looking for photos and videos from folks across our organization – from you!
What we are looking for
We're hoping to create a video that combines the high energy of the Banff Film Festival intro with the community feeling of our We Are Mountaineers video. We'd like to represent the many faces our community, and everyone is encouraged to submit content. We are particularly hoping to highlight individuals with identities that have been historically excluded from the outdoors (specifically black, brown, and indigenous people, although we're seeking to show diversity of size, age, gender, and activity as well). We’d love photos of your smiling faces enjoying the outdoors, in whichever way is most meaningful to you. We’re also looking for photos of your favorite places, spaces, and landscapes.
How to submit photos
If you'd like to help, please gather any photos (larger than 1MB) and videos (1920x1080 or bigger) you’d like to donate to this project and share them with us via Dropbox or Google Drive. To ensure that we include you in the video credits, please include your name as part of your file names. The deadline for content submissions is March 4, 2022.
Why the gala is so important
Our annual gala is held to support the people, programs, and publishing at The Mountaineers. Donations from this event support everything from our Conservation & Advocacy team to life-changing scholarships for youth and adults, with over $75,000 in scholarship funds awarded each year. This year we are thrilled to have both an in-person and a virtual gala, so that everyone can come together to celebrate and support our organization. Because of this shift in structure, we feel that this year it’s more important than ever to showcase the breadth of The Mountaineers community.
The Mountaineers uses donated photo content in our emails, bogs, and print communications. If you would like us to refrain from using your photos beyond the gala video, please let us know by emailing info@mountaineers.org. Thank you again for sharing your adventures big and small with us!
