Hello! My name is Adry and I'm the Summer Camp Coordinator. I am so excited to be creating our Summer Camp blog this summer. From August 10-14, the theme here at the Mountaineers will revolve around the water! I'll be posting daily updates so check back for general information, photos, field trip updates, and daily camp reflections. Click here any time to see pictures of our adventures!
Day 5
It would not have been a successful Water Week without a little rain! Luckily, the thunderstorms didn't hit until late afternoon, giving us enough time to kayak, climb outdoors, and participate in outdoor cooking. Thank you to parents for coming out for Parent Day! We really loved teaching you about knot-tying, belaying, first aid, and outdoor cooking!
day 4
Our second field trip for the week was a success! We had a great time at Discovery Park and the weather was perfect for a day of stewardship, hiking, and relaxing on the beach. Campers are encouraged to return to the park in the future to see all of the new trees and plants they helped grow!
Day 3
As an entire camp, we made our way to Index, WA for some rafting. We were sad to hear that this year, the area is at an all time low for fresh water, but that didn't stop our campers from having a blast today. The staff at Outdoor Adventure Center gave us a training day on what it takes to be a great river guide. Campers floated down a small rapid and were able to get into their own inflatable kayaks and make their way upstream.
Day 2
Today, campers had so much fun in kayaks and in sailboats! A big thank you to Sail Sandpoint for instructing our explorers out on the water today. The winds were perfect, and they had an amazing time!
day 1
Today was a day of getting to know one another! From ice breakers to our facility tour, counselors and campers enjoyed the sun, some climbing, and even some curriculum like first aid and outdoor cooking!
