The Washington Wildlife and Recreation Program (WWRP) - our State's primary tool for conserving the gorgeous natural areas beloved by our community - is at risk. The State Senate budget will be dismantling the WWRP and cutting funding to almost all planned backcountry recreation and conservation projects for state lands. These projects preserve our natural heritage and ensure our lands and waters remain open to the public.
We need your help to restore the program and ensure it can preserve Washington's great outdoors. Call your Senators and Representatives this week - tell them our habitat and wildlife recreation deserve their support through WWRP.
WWRP's critics say we need to shift money to support primarily city-based recreation projects. While we believe in the importance of recreational opportunities in our urban areas, we also know that Washingtonians flock year-around to State Parks and other public lands to camp, hike, climb, and recharge.
We believe that ALL recreation deserves support and funding. Please contact your legislators and ask them to restore WWRP.
