You did it! We asked for your help to get more kids outside more often and now we can! Last month you helped us raise over $30,000 toward a 15-passenger Ford Transit and this month we brought it home. Thank you to the 34 donors who made it possible, and to the 9 donors who made their first gift to The Mountaineers! We’d like to give a special shout out to The Bradley Family Foundation and donors Ken Seamon and Jane Biddle who extended your support with the matching gift challenge and to the Gary E. Milgard Family Foundations for helping to make the van possible!
This weekend the van is headed out on its first voyage to the Pasayten Wilderness to take The Mountaineers Adventure Club youth for some wet, snowy backpacking! We are still searching for an epic name for the van, so if you have any brilliant ideas we want to hear from you.
Over the last year, Mountaineers youth programs provided 10,300 outdoor experiences across our programs to over 2,500 individual youth. We know consistency is key when it comes to developing a bond with our natural landscapes and we're strategically focused on offering more experiences per person through our programming. With your support we are committed to not only improving access to outdoor pursuits but also expanding engagement opportunities per kiddo so they have the best chance of receiving the life-long benefits that comes with spending more time outside.
Oh behalf of the thousands of Mountaineers youth who learn to climb, kayak, navigate, cook outdoors, snowshoe, and camp, thank you! We can’t wait to tell you about all the places we’ll go with our new van!
