This last #GivingTuesday, our community gathered with us to support our Mountaineers Access Program (MAP) scholarship fund. This fund supports those who would not otherwise be able to participate in Mountaineers programs.

The Difference It Makes
"This past year has been one of the most memorable and life-changing years of my life. When I first applied for the MAP scholarship I truly didn’t know what to expect. My goal was to be able to meet other hikers as it was hard to find people that were interested in outdoor sports within my community. What I found was way more than I could’ve imagined. In the span of a year I not only found the community that I was looking for, but I was able to get involved in some of the most life-changing courses and activities I’ve ever participated in. I moved from being interested but uninformed to feeling confident, supported, and aware of how to interact with our outdoors safely and consciously.
I can't begin to explain how life-changing it has been, and it would’ve never been possible if it weren’t for the kindness of others.
I met some of the kindest people too - there’s something remarkable about someone who volunteers their time and energy because of the passion they have. Their authenticity and commitment rubs off so wonderfully onto those that they’re teaching, passing down the same love and responsibility. I’ve learned so much that has significantly changed how I view the world and how I navigate it. I experienced so much growth and appreciation for life, a change that was very visible to those that knew me before. I am very grateful for this opportunity. I can't begin to explain how life-changing it has been, and it would’ve never been possible if it weren’t for the kindness of others. Thank you so much for giving towards this initiative, you are transforming people's lives."
