Four weeks ago we were in a much different place. Business was on track to hit our budget goals and we were getting ready to welcome 500 party-goers to our biggest fundraiser of the year. In addition to rescheduling the Gala, we have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars of earned revenue by halting our programs to mitigate the public health impact of COVID-19.
We know these precautions are necessary for the health and safety of our family and friends. The impact of these efforts is vast and we need to do everything we can to recapture lost funds and protect the core of our business. Your help today will bolster our ability to adequately meet the needs of our volunteers and members once our doors re-open again.
Not being able to attend the Gala this week, I have officially joined the “All Dressed Up, Nowhere To Go” campaign. I don’t know about you, but I’ve worn out my casual-wear and have started putting on formal attire to go to work at my kitchen table. Now, I’m not the best home-video producer, but I do have a very special announcement to share on behalf of the Board.

As your Board President, I want to assure you that The Mountaineers Board of Directors is taking this matter very seriously. At the same time, we are trying to stay light on our feet and light in our hearts as we work together to face this challenge. But we can’t do it alone. We need the support of our entire community to weather the storm. That is why today we are announcing a special donor matching pool from the Board to engage as many members as possible. We are committed to match every gift received over $100 up to $36,000 starting now until the clock strikes midnight on Saturday, April 4. Would you join me today to unlock these matching funds?

Earlier this week you received a message from Tom Vogl announcing the launch of the online silent auction and the Peak Society Challenge inviting 20 new donors at the $750 level. I’m pleased to share that 8 new Peak Society members have already joined raising an additional $8,000. The next 13 people to give at that level will unlock an additional $1,000 each from the Board’s matching pool turning your $750 into $2,000!
There are many ways to participate from bidding in the online auction, joining the Peak Society, or helping the Board reach our matching pool.
