Today is Giving Tuesday, and we are dedicating today to refilling our Mountaineers Access Program (MAP) scholarship fund. Will you make a special donation today to help people in our community access the outdoors?
Sometimes a little financial assistance is all it takes to unlock adventure, health, confidence, connection to community, and more. If you’ve ever gone on a trip or taken a course with The Mountaineers, you know that the time spent together – in person, in nature – can be joyful, grounding, and healing.
Joy when it's needed most: a note from a scholarship recipient
"Two years ago, my daughter was suffering from major anxiety and needed a social outlet and also to be in nature to heal. The Mountaineers provided both and gave her something to look forward to for the next year. It boosted her confidence and helped her create fun memories during a difficult time for our family.
“My older daughter joined her the next year thanks to the scholarship, and was able to participate in a camp that wasn't diabetes-related for the first time. The counselors bravely took on all of her medical needs out in the wilderness and made her feel welcome and accepted, which is huge for her. It's also boosted her confidence and opened up her whole world, knowing diabetes doesn't have to hold her back from experiences. She had a chance to practice independence and bond with her sister in such an amazing way. They have had a rough few years and these experiences added a lot of joy at a time they really needed it.”

A special invitation
This week marks the one-year anniversary of the unexpected passing of a beloved Mountaineer. As a volunteer leader and member of staff, Jeff Bowman contributed immeasurably to helping people gain confidence and find joy outside.
