Packrafting
INTRODUCTION TO FLATWATER PACKRAFTING
This course teaches the skills needed to packraft on flatwater—lakes, river deltas, estuaries, and Class I rivers. It is designed for hikers, backpackers, and bikepackers who wish to expand their range of travel in the backcountry with the ability to make water crossings across Class I rivers, river deltas, estuaries, and alpine lakes. This class is typically offered in 3½ days, consisting of one lecture, one wet training day on a lake, one wet training day on a Class I river, and one experience trip on a local Class I river.
You'll swim in the cold lake and river water numerous times during this course so be sure to dress appropriately with immersion protection or neoprene as the season and your tolerance for cold dictate.
