In Memory of Gerry Haugen
Thank you for considering a gift in honor of Gerry Haugen, a home builder and nature lover, who passed away on February 6th, 2024.
Gerry was the consummate mountain man and loved the outdoors in all forms. He was expert in avalanche safety and education, and taught avalanche education for The Mountaineers for many years. So many students benefited from his deep understanding and respect of the mountains, yet the hazards they can also bring. Gerry developed many long-lasting friendships through his work with Mountaineers. Gerry also loved to ski, hike, camp, kayak, fish, garden, and explore the wilderness of Washington mountains, lakes, and Puget Sound, and maintained annual trips and adventures with many friends and family.
Gerry was also an avid reader and researched a variety of interests, including birds, weather, politics, and history; all of which led to rich discussions. Gerry had a wonderful life and marriage with Linda, his wife of over 40 years, until her passing in early 2023. He loved his stepchildren, grandchildren, and friends dearly; and enjoyed spending time with them, building fond memories camping, hiking, and ski trips.
There will be a private celebration of Gerry’s life in late March; to reach Gerry’s full obituary and share your favorite memory, please visit the online guest book [coming soon].
