- Keynote Speaker: Listen to campfire-worthy stories from esteemed mountaineer, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker, Mountaineers Books author, photographer, and celebrated environmentalist Rick Ridgeway.
- Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient: Honoring acclaimed photographer and record-breaking mountaineering legend Dianne Roberts (presented by Joss and Leif Whittaker).
- Bid on the chance to win incredible artwork, gear, experiences, and getaways in our silent and live auction.
- Partake in a little friendly competition and cheer on the contestants in the epic Tyrolean Traverse.
- Enjoy delicious food from Kaspars Catering, award-winning wine from Tinte Cellars, a Mountaineers-themed cocktail from Bluewater Organic Distilling, Camp Cups from MiiR, and a few other camp-themed surprises!
We have been blown away by your generosity in support of our past two virtual galas, helping us surpass our fundraising goal each year. This April, we have a fundraising goal of $420,000 to support donor-funded initiatives at The Mountaineers and Mountaineers Books, including scholarships, volunteer support, conservation & advocacy, youth outreach programs, and more. All funds raised through ticket sales, auction bids, and Raise the Paddle gifts help make the magic of Mountaineers programs possible.
VIRTUAL VIEWING OPTION
While many Gala goers have claimed their ticket in person, several of you have expressed a desire to join virtually. To be inclusive of our extended community, we will offer a way to participate from afar. This year's hybrid event will combine all of the things you love about an in-person event with the comfort of being at home. Event if you have to miss the red carpet, you can still join us for an evening of celebration, unique auction packages, and memorable storytelling.
COVID-19 Guidance
Your health and safety is extremely important to us, and we are taking extra precautions to minimize the risk of transmission. Please note the current safety measures below, which may be updated as guidance from local and federal health officials changes:
- All attendees are required to be fully vaccinated prior to April 2. We use Washington State’s definition of “fully vaccinated” and expect booster doses to be required in the near future. Currently the CDC recommends all people 18 years and older to receive a booster dose. Negative COVID-19 test results will not be accepted in lieu of proof of vaccination.
- All attendees are required to take a rapid COVID-19 self-test and show a negative result prior to entering the event. The Mountaineers will have rapid tests available onsite.
- Face masks are required when not eating or drinking.
- Fremont Studios has confirmed their ventilation system offers substantial air flow, with 360,000 cubic feet of air being constantly cycled and fully replenished every 11 minutes.
- While we are excited to hear that King County health officials feel comfortable rolling back requirements like vaccine verifications, for the safety and comfort of our audience, The Mountaineers 2022 Gala will move forward with the COVID-19 protocols above.
If you have questions about the event, please email development@mountaineers.org or call 206-521-6026.
