Route:We left Timberline Lodge at 10:45 p.m. under mostly clear skies. Winds were about 15-20 knots, with stronger gusts. Felt like pushing a boulder up the mountain at times. The bergschrund at the top of the Hogsback prevented an ascent via the Pearly Gates, so the group opted for the Old Chute. Exiting the Old Chute on climbers' right, avoiding the traverse across the steep snow ridge.
Equipment: We had glacier gear, pickets and screws with us. An ice ax and crampons were the only technical gear needed, however.
