Mount Hood/South Side (Palmer Glacier)

Left the car park at 11:15 pm and returned by 10:15 am. Clear skies and no wind all night. Summitted just before sunrise at 5 am. We were not the first on the summit, but we were ahead of the main crowd. We summitted via the Old Chute route which has effectively turned into a low grade ice climb which we protected with pickets. We were front-pointing the chute both ascending and descending. We had downclimbed the chute by 7:30 am where there was now long queues coming up. We were roped up from the base of Crater Rock. Many climbers on the mountain were not roped up at all.
