Basic Snowshoeing Course - Everett

This Basic Snowshoeing Course offers an introduction to safe and enjoyable winter travel for the beginner. It is designed for people who want to get a taste of snowshoeing and pick up solid foundational skills. Topics of instruction will include selection and use of proper equipment, what to rent, how to plan and evaluate snowshoe routes to avoid avalanche risk, winter travel, safety, and choosing an outing. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to participate in basic Mountaineers snowshoe tours with the confidence of having a foundation in winter travel.

Graduation requires attendance at the lecture, field trip, taking an avalanche awareness course (such as the following online  avalanche awareness course ), for which there is no additional cost, and completion of the online low impact course (no additional cost). In the classroom, we cover clothing and equipment, preparation, and winter hazards. If you do not already have snowshoes, poles, and boots, we advise waiting until after the equipment lecture before purchasing or renting.

Please note that course fees  do not include transportation fees and the parking pass that may be required at our field trip venue (Vail Resorts Stevens Pass).
