Stephen Johnson

Stephen came to Mountaineers as an avid day-hiker in 2019 and took the Foothills Compressed Scramble Course, which opened up a whole new world of climbing and creativity. He took Basic Alpine in 2020, Intermediate Glacier Travel in 2021, and Leading on Trad in 2022 and is now a rock, scramble, and hike leader and particularly loves solo scrambling. He has served as FH Scramble Leadership Chair since 2021 and became Activity Chair in 2024. 

Stephen was first introduced outdoor activities as a child in Northern Virginia, where his parents would allow him and his brother to play upon the boulders and rocks of Great Falls Park along the raging Potomac River. The joy from those days has been carried in every outing since then.
