Field trip: Trail Running Weekend

Workshop - Horseshoe Bend

Start off your weekend with a 4-mile Friday afternoon trail run on the way to the Mt Baker lodge. If there is interest, some of us can run it twice for 8 miles.

  • Easy/Moderate
  • Casual
  • Mileage: 4.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 200 ft
  • Pace: 15 minute miles

Horseshoe Bend trailhead. This is the parking lot across SR 542 from the entrance to the Douglas Fir Campground. It is 2 miles east of the town of Glacier and immediately after crossing the bridge over the North Fork of the Nooksack River.  4:00 pm.

This is part of the Trail Running  Weekend 2024.

We will follow the Horseshoe Bend trail along the banks of the Nooksack River and through the woods. The trail is only 2 miles long. We will then run back to the cars. If there is interest, we can run it a second time.

After the run, we will stop in at one of the three good restaurants in the town of Glacier for dinner before continuing up the road to the Lodge.

Note: there is no cell reception at the trailhead or anywhere along the trail. There is almost no cell phone reception along SR 542 past Maple Falls.  Please be on time as there is little chance you will be able to notify us if you are running late. We will wait no more than ten minutes for late arrivals.
