Women's Alpine Scrambling Course - Foothills - 2024

Scrambling Course

Women's Alpine Scrambling Course

A course for women and those who identify as women to learn the skills needed to venture off-trail on snow and rock to reach non-technical alpine summits. NOTE: If you do not have a current Basic Navigation badge, You MUST complete the basic navigation course concurrently and earn the badge to be eligible for the field trips.

Alpine Scrambling fills the gap between on-trail hiking and roped climbing. This course teaches the skills needed to venture off-trail on snow and rock to reach non-technical alpine summits.  Scrambling involves unroped movement on and across low or moderately-exposed snow and rock terrain. This course is ideal for people who are very comfortable hiking on trails and want something to expand their comfort zone and skills. In addition to having a desire to learn rock and scrambling skills, students must have or be able to develop overall physical conditioning. The course can be challenging; however, the payoff will be opportunities to connect with new scrambling partners and friends, while learning the skills that can be used to safely travel in the wild for a lifetime.

To receive permission to register for the course, please Email the leader  to let her know A.) when you will take the Basic Navigation course or B.) that you already have the badge.  Her email can be found if you click on the name underneath Contacts.
