Longmire museum inside Mt. Rainier National Park, 7:45am. Since parking is limited at Narada Falls carpooling is encouraged. If we can't all park at Narada Falls then trip leader may relocate trip to the Paradise area.

All vehicles, including 4WD and AWD vehicles, are required to carry tire chains when entering the park. Nov. 1 - May 1.
This is the skier-friendly/snowboarder-friendly field trip. Please sign up for this trip if you plan to travel on backcountry ("alpine touring"/AT) skis or with a splitboard. Nordic skis will not work for this trip. Our other March 2024 field trip will be snowshoe-only.
We will practice skills discussed in the winter camping lecture, including:
- site selection
- how to set up a winter camp
- cooking food
- gathering water
- getting around in winter
- emergency snow shelter construction practice
