Field trip: Intermediate Glacier Travel and Winter Mountaineering
Intermediate Glacier Travel Field Trip - Mount Ellinor & Mount Washington
Intermediate Glacier Travel Field Trip to Mount Ellinor or Mount Washington in the Olympics. We will plan on the winter route to the saddle below the summit and camp there. May switch to the summer route if conditions require it. Plan on a summit climb, building an emergency snow shelter spending two full days in a beautiful winter locale. Flotation likely to be required.

0730 at Hoodsport Coffee Company in Hoodsport, WA on Saturday, 1 February. We will gather here to ensure we have everyone together before driving out of cell coverage. Also nice to pick up a coffee if you would like.
Goal is to spend an overnight at around 5500' camping in snow. We will climb to the Ellinor summit, practice some steep snow/ice climbing techniques and set up camp and build a snow shelter (one or more depending on desires and number of us there.)
