The Kitsap Climbing Self-Rescue I module teaches small party (2+ rope teams) self-rescue. This classroom session will present and develop individual and group skills fundamental to self-rescue on rock, glaciers, and ice and present theory related to mechanical advantage and anchor forces.

Meet at the Kitsap Program Center at 6:00pm. We will plan to be completed by 9:00pm.
The Kitsap Climbing Self-Rescue I module teaches small party (2+ rope teams) self-rescue. This classroom session will present and develop individual and group skills fundamental to self-rescue on rock, glaciers, and ice and present theory related to mechanical advantage and anchor forces.
The following topics/activities will be covered:
- Anchor construction and analysis of forces involved in a rescue scenario
- Theory and application of Load/Tension Release Hitches
- Discussion and setup of raising systems to include analysis of Mechanical Advantage
- Discussion and setup of a lowering systems
- Small Party Response via Main/Belay and Twin Tension Systems
- Knot passing on raise and lower

instructors will earn:
Required Equipment
Standard rock climbing equipment including:
- Harness
- Helmet
- 6-8 locking carabiners
- 4-6 non-locking carabiners
- 4-6 alpine draws (can employ non-locking carabiners listed above)
- Cordelette
- Progress Capture Pulley (Optional)
- Lightweight Ascender (Optional)
Bring the gear you would have on your harness and we will apply it to the problems. You rescue with what you have.
