  • Safety - rope management, wind forecast, rescues
  • Sailing basics - sail handling and points of sail
  • Practice in light wind.

We will rig the sails at the launch, but keep them folded on the deck as we cross the Columbia River to Sandy Island. At the island we will do a beach talk covering the first 4 bullet points above. Then we will go out and practice sailing out of the shipping channel to the south and west of Sandy Island.

Expect to be back at the launch by about 3:30pm.
