Strokes and Maneuvers Clinic - Millersylvania State Park

Boat, paddle, 10 essentials? Check. How about a kinetic chain? We'll start on the beach with a few body mechanics exercises before getting in the water to apply what we find to maneuver our boats.

  • Moderate, Sea Kayak I/II
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 1.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 10 kts
  • Pace: 1

Meet at the kayak launch at Millersylvania State Park (Discover Pass is required) at 9am.

We'll start the day with on-the-beach exercises before getting out on the water.

Along with all gear you'd have for a sea kayaking trip, please wear clothes you're comfortable stretching and working out in.

Something to put between you and the grass (e.g., mat, beach towel).

Also,  please bring light to medium resistance bands if you have them.

Disclaimer: I am not a kinesiologist, physician ,or physical therapist, and this clinic will be a first for me. So...results may vary. I do have a bit of experience, though, training in sports where body mechanics, and translating kinetic chain movement into momentum are important. It seems important to sea kayaking as well, so let's work on that!

If you're interested, please put a quick note acknowledging the disclaimer in your email.
