This exciting week of Camp is for campers ages 10-14 and includes a day of skills learning at a local park and 3 days/ 2 nights backpacking and exploring the Dosewallips River.
Monday - We will spend the day in Olympia getting to know each other with fun games and ice breakers, followed by planning and preparing for the week ahead. We will create our weeks meals and go over backpacking basics, like how to pack your backpack, set up a tent, filter water, and cook outdoors. We will also cover some wilderness first aid skills and learn how to Leave No Trace while we’re in the wilderness. We’ll cap off the day with some fun games, and final prep check list for the trip.
Campers will arrive Tuesday morning with their backpack packed with gear. We will drive to Dosewallips abandoned road and hike to Elk horn campground, about 2.7 miles of walking. We will work together to set up camp and adventure before dinner. Our evening will be filled with stargazing, songs, stories, and more.
Wednesday will be a day hike to the old Dosewallips campground, which is now abandoned and fun to explore! We will visit waterfalls, play near the riverbed, and enjoy games in the large open fields before returning to our camp.
Thursday morning will be spent exploring in the morning before we pack up and prepare to head home. We will have one final adventure along the Hood Canal as we return to Olympia We will arrive back on Thursday around 4:00 with time to share our stories with our families.

We will be sending a packing list to families a few weeks prior to camp and can provide gear that campers may need which may include a backpack, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, or tent.
