Discuss and finalize course activities for the 2025 Olympia Essentials of Backpacking Course. Course instructors are invited to this meeting.

  1. Discuss & finalize 2nd in person Lecture: Gear Day @ Squaxin Park, March 22nd. Identify preferred topics/instructors for the course Gear Demonstration Day field trip activity.
  • Clarify time (to-from)
  • Finalize topics: order, time frame, and course instructors
  • Questions, Close, Feedback
  1. Discuss & finalize: Show Us Your Gear Day @ Lions Park, April 10th 6pm to 7:00/7:3pm
  • Welcome & Intro
  • Students Show their gear for upcoming overnighter
  • Students set up tent, sleep system, and light stove
  • Identify students who may need loaner gear
  • Questions, Close, Feedback
  1. Overnighter (Dosewallips / Lake Sylvia) Discuss and finalize       

Future Meetings:

  1. Determine our next step: how to engage/retain members
  • Alumni backpacks
  • Alumni picnic / potlucks
  • Alumni winter activities "cookie nights,” “hikes to keep active,” “plan the next years alumni backpack” or overnighter
  • Swag (students / instructors / volunteers)
  1. Discuss Ideas for future group field trips activities.
  • Student co-lead backpacks
