5pm Friday at Baker Lodge. Part of this two-day workshop will be at Baker Lodge but most of the weekend will be in the Baker Backcountry.
Learning objectives include:
- Gain proficiency with construction and management of improvised and/or purpose-built backcountry rescue sleds, and leave with a plan for growing these skills subsequently.
- Deepen operational and risk management skills to foster team engagement.
- Develop proficiency in an analysis of hazards and risk related to skiing with their students, with emphasis on prevention (skills for reducing the likelihood of a ski injury) and on reducing vulnerability (sled rescue skills).
- Contribute to the development of the Mountaineers avalanche education program.
- Build community and see how they individually contribute to risk management.

Required Equipment
You should have your complete backcountry skiing/splitboarding kit, including avy gear, first aid kit and rescue sled (if you have one - we'll also have Mountaineers group sleds.)
