Canyoning Skills Practice Session - Mountaineers Seattle Program Center

This practice session is for Mountaineers course graduates only.

Location: Mountaineers Seattle Branch - exact location will be announced as we have indoor and outdoor spots reserved. 

Time:  Saturday, May 22nd, 2021 from 12 PM - 4 PM

Join us for a canyon skills practice session and brush up on some skills for the upcoming summer season!

COVID-19 Guidelines: Masks/buffs required. We will do our best to organize practice stations so that participants are as evenly spread out as possible to maximize social distancing. If the practice session is indoors due to adverse weather, doors will be left open to maximize air circulation. Please bring appropriate layers.

Skills Focus:

  1. Vertical Movement: Ascending, Conversions, Passing Knots
  2. Rigging: EMO, MMO, Unlinked Anchors
  3. Guided Rappels: Basic Level (Rigging and tensioning with MMO & Italian 8)
  4. Guided Rappels: Intermediate Level (Releasable hauling system for a stuck rappeller)

What’s Happening Afterwards? Happy hour - Magnuson Brewery

Volunteers: We are looking for 2 volunteers who feel confident in their rigging skills to help set up practice stations prior to the event. Volunteers will meet at 10:30am to begin setting up skills stations. Please message Jake if you are interested.
