Climbing Course

Self Rescue I

Learn how to rescue an injured follower on a multipitch climb.

Course registration will open on November 15th at 7pm. Students must meet the following criteria to register:

  • Ability to lead on bolted routes up to 5.7
  • Be a basic graduate or have equivalent experience.
  • See below for further details on prerequisites

What would happen if your climbing partner was seriously injured half-way up a multi-pitch climb and needed to be evacuated?  Are you prepared to carry out a rescue with the limited resources you typically carry on an alpine rock climb?  This course will teach you the technical skills needed to rescue an injured follower, including belay escapes, counterbalance and tandem rappels, and haul systems.
