Meet at the Cable line trailhead by 5:30PM, start hiking by 5:45PM. Plan on being back down at the cars by 8:45PM. Parking is outside the gate to the road to the High Point parking.
We will practice glacier travel hiking on a shorted rope team.
Bring your climbing harness and two carabiners (at least one locking) for tie-in connection to rope (butterfly, overhand, figure 8, clove-hitch).
Spacing: We will keep about 10 feet of rope between each climber. Students at the end will be tied in with rewoven figure eights, with team members in the middle tied in with alpine butterfly knots clipped in with using reversed and opposed carabiners (one locking, one non-locking). Excess rope will coiled up on either end for the first and last team member to stored pack (or coiled around them) to deploy in case of crevasse rescue. Note carrying the excess rope inside the pack might be easier than coils on the body. Coils on the body are considered advanced.
