introductory course
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is the course most Mountaineers will take in order to learn the skills necessary to deliver first aid in a wilderness setting. The course consists of:
- Two 8-hour weekend classroom sessions, taught by an outside vendor, Remote Medical International ( RMI website).
- Upon successful completion, the WFA badge will be awarded.

ADVANCED COURSE
The Hybrid Wilderness First Responder (H-WFR) combines online coursework with five days of onsite training. The course prepares students to deliver medical assistance in a remote or wilderness setting.
The course consists of:
- 20 - 30 hours of online coursework
- Five days of onsite training
- Upon successful completion, the WFAR badge will be awarded.

Recertification for First Responders
A Hybrid Wilderness First Responder Recertification Course is offered to participants who currently have a valid WFR or W-EMT certificate. The course consists of:
- Online, self-study coursework
- Two days of onsite training
- Upon successful completion, the WFR badge will be awarded.

Lights, Action, Camera!
Seattle First Aid course participants practice their skills at the Seattle Program Center. LOTS of Volunteers are needed to creatively make the first aid scenarios, for example, applying make up and playing the role of the victim. Reach out to a committee member if you'd like to volunteer at our next event.
