CHS 2 Hike - Kendall Katwalk

Come hike a beautiful section of the PCT and cross over the Kendall Katwalk. We will continue our hike out to Ridge & Gravel lakes for lunch. Swimming is optional. This is a very popular trail so we will start early. CHS hike led at a CHS 2 pace (2.0-3.0 mph)

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 14.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,000 ft
  • Pace: 2.0-3.0 mph

The Kendall Katwalk hike is lovely.  If you haven’t had the opportunity to join one of the five previously offered Kendall Katwalk hikes consider ending August with this one.  It has a steady grade and the trail blocking late-to-melt snow near the Katwalk will be long gone. On a sunny day– it is refreshing to get into the lake which will be our lunch (and turn-around) spot.

We will meet at the Tibbetts Park & Ride in Issaquah (https://www.soundtransit.org/ride-with-us/parking/east-king-county/tibbetts-valley-park-park-ride)  and leave no later than 6:15 am. We plan to start hiking around 7:00.

If you choose to drive directly to the Trailhead (47.4278, -121.4135 Map & Directions ) please be ready to hike at 7:00.

Additionally, if you plan to drive directly to the trailhead, please let Ann & I know so that we aren’t waiting for you at the park & ride.

“The Kendall Katwalk trail is a 15.0 mi heavily trafficked out and back trail.  The Katwalk itself is a narrow trail blasted into a steep rock face underneath Kendall Peak. While it’s not for those afraid of heights, it’s a spectacular vantage point over the field of summits beyond.”

We will likely see PCT thru hikers and many other hikers. The blueberries along the trail should be ripe. Gravel and Ridge lakes are 1.3 miles past the Katwalk.
