Field trip: Introduction to the Natural World Course

Field Trip 4 - Seattle Naturalists Intro Natural World Course - Greider Lakes

Come explore one of the wettest areas in the North Cascade Mountains. High precipitation and cool temperatures cause sub-alpine plants communities to occur at unusually low elevations. We can see Alaska Yellow Cedars! Note, we will not hike all the way to Greider Lakes, but we will cover about 6 miles.

  • Mileage: 7.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 700 ft
  • Pace: easy, with many stops

We will meet at the Greider Lakes trailhead at 9:00 am.  Pit toilets are available in the parking lot.  Discover Pass is required as is stopping at the information kiosk shortly before the parking area to complete a required form for visiting the Sultan Basin.

We will look at a few things on our way out but  getting to our turnaround spot is  our first goal.  We will explore more on the way back.  While Greider Lakes are lovely it is quite the grind after our relatively flat two miles so we will turnaround before the lakes.  Hopefully, you will want to come back and hike all the way next time as it is a beautiful area to explore.
