The Online Map and Compass Activities provide the foundation for the Activities that follow.

Activity 1A on average takes approximately 4 to 5 hours to complete, (not including any assigned reading time). You are allotted eleven days to finish this activity. Activity 1A must be completed prior to Activity 1B. It is required to complete the course, and is not an optional component. If you cannot finish in this time, you must roll over to a later course (winter or spring).

On the Activity start date, you'll receive an email with a link to the CoAssemble Learning Platform. A volunteer instructor will be assigned to help you, to answer questions, etc. You must complete at least 87% of the online Activities to be deemed complete. The computer system requirements are listed in the Course Materials tab of the Course Page.

Compass and Maps:

See the Required Equipment tab on the main Course Page. You will need an approved compass and a USGS Baring map. Only specific compasses will be accepted, so before purchasing a compass make sure to read our compass requirements.
