The Igloo Building Course is designed for Mountaineers members who want to make the most of winter by knowing how to comfortably camp overnight in the snow without tents.

In this Lecture we will discuss:

  • How to construct an Igloo, using a hybrid technique (developed here in the PNW)
  • Necessary Igloo construction equipment (minimal)
  • How to identify safe campsites
  • Proper clothing needs while building and after
  • Review of sleep systems
  • Kitchen setups and cooking issues
  • Shared group gear
  • Food Storage requirements (Rainier NP)
  • Water needs

Be ready to take notes and ask questions.
