November GoWalk! Urban Walks: 2 to 5 miles, 0 to 450 feet of elevation gain

Field trip: GoWalk!: Beginner Urban Walking Series

November GoWalk! Urban Walks: 2 to 5 miles, 0 to 450 feet of elevation gain - Center for Urban Horticulture

We will start by walking through Yesler Swamp (boardwalk--boots not needed) to see if the beavers are out. Then we will head through the Union Bay Natural Area (great for birdwatching, but we'll mostly keep walking), down the west edge of campus past the current and original (Boys in the Boat) boathouses and along the Cut to Montlake. Then we will head for the Drumheller Fountain and wander through the UW campus and back to our start

Meet at the Center for Urban Horticulture, by the Fountain  in the Soest Garden.  The Meeting time is at 9 am, ready to hike.  There is no public restroom there, unless there is a function at the Center.

Participation in 1 November Urban Walk is required for all GoWalk! participants.

My Goals:  Have fun hiking in this beautiful area.  Hear lots of cheerful chatter.  Have everyone feel great about completing the hike.

My Expectations: All are prepared to hike whatever the weather.  Photographers/naturalists keep up with the group. Group stays together and supports one another.

My Style:  Hike at a pace comfortable for all.  Invite curiosity and commentary from fellow hikers. Find some chuckles.
