Prerequisites:

For fall climbing trips: Attendance on at least one Climbing 101 workshop and at minimum, competence with top rope belaying skills. Top rope belaying badge.

For spring-summer climbing trips: Attendance at all climbing workshops up to and including Anchors/Cleaning Routes and competence with lead belaying, lead climbing on bolts, anchors, and cleaning routes. Lead belaying badge (there is no "lead climbing" badge) + clean & lower badge. The lead belaying badge signifies competence with the complete skill of lead climbing on bolts. The clean & lower badge signifies competence setting up top rope anchors  on routes with bolted fixed hardware and the ability to clean and lower from a route when finished climbing.

  • Climbing shoes
  • Harness that fits over the clothing you climb in
  • Helmet
  • Belay device
  • Backpack or bag that holds all of your gear

  • Small duffel bag for overnight gear
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping pad
  • Tent
  • Camp chair / sitting system
  • Pack cover or plastic bag for water repellence
  • Wool/synthetic socks (minimum of three pairs)
  • Boots (worn in with sturdy tread, seams, and laces)
  • Shorts (synthetic)
  • T-shirt (avoid cotton and save one for the ride home)
  • Long sleeve shirt (synthetic)

  • Warm Jacket (fleece or wool)
  • Warm pants (fleece or wool)
  • Waterproof shell (jacket and pants, breathable and a hood on the jacket)
