Great cardio workout up a groomed forest service road to the warming hut. This is an intermediate classic ski trip and skiers should be physically able to ski (or realistically mostly walk up on skis) 2000+ feet and be comfortable with a sustained downhill snowplow (aka “thigh burner”) on the descent via headlamp/moonlight on a wide forest road. (Moon is waxing gibbous, 4 days away from full moon, sunset 5:22 pm, moonrise at 12:53pm so moon should be overhead as it darkens.)
