Seattle MAC Day Hike - Kendall Katwalk
If the name Kendall Katwalk conjures up an image of a narrow pathway blasted out of a steeply sloped rock face, that’s part of it. But the whole package includes old-growth forest, gorgeous wildflowers, and stunning views into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness from both sides of the pass below Kendall Peak, where the Katwalk begins. Plan to meet at the trailhead at 8:00am. I know this is early, but Kendall Katwalk is a popular hike so getting an early start will likely assure parking at the trailhead.
Parking: NW Forest pass or equivalent needed.
Carpool: linked here. If you are driving yourself to the trailhead, please let the trip leader (Stephanie) know.
We'll be hiking approximately 12 miles, 2700' elevation gain. As this is a conditioning hike, our objective is to maintain a solid MAC pace, with a brief stop or two along the trail for layer adjustment/water/snack/party separation breaks. We will also take a break at the destination (the Katwalk) for lunch. Participants MUST be confident in their ability to complete this hike! More hike details and recent trail reports can be found here on the WTA website.
