Washington rock climbers have a long-standing commitment to stewarding Little Si and its various crags. In the late 90’s, with support from REI, the Access Fund and local climbers created the trail system and belay terracing at three of Little Si’s most popular crags. In 2001, DNR constructed a new parking area at Little Si to resolve parking issues. The Access Fund (again with support from REI) organized projects that built most of the trail linking the new parking area to Little Si. The Greenway Trust is continuing to support the efforts of the climbing community by organizing a stewardship event on June 16th to celebrate this legacy engaging partner organizations—REI, Washington Climbers Coalition, Access Fund, American Alpine Club—the Department of Natural Resources, and local climbers in stewarding Little Si through a variety of work projects. Additionally, this event will celebrate the release of Kurt Hicks’ anticipated guidebook for climbing in the Snoqualmie Valley.
