Canyoning Celebration 2021

Canyoning Celebration 2021

A party to celebrate an incredible year of canyoning in the PNW!

All PNW canyoners are invited to come play on ropes, connect with canyon friends old and new, and celebrate another outstanding year of canyoning in the Pacific Northwest! We weren’t able to host this event last year due to the pandemic and are excited to bring it back for 2021. We hope you will join us!

PLEASE RSVP ON EVENTBRITE HERE!

You can get a ticket for free, but we hope that you will consider purchasing a $15 or $25 ticket to help cover the cost of canyoning events like these at The Mountaineers :-)

WHAT TO EXPECT

Canyon ropes everywhere! Practice your knots, ascend/descend or learn new tricks. There may even be some just-for-fun competitions… speed knot-tying anyone?

Community potluck, with a program celebrating the many accomplishments in our canyoning community over the last two years. We will provide burgers, veggie burgers, and all the fixin’s.

Entertainment and education from presentations on low-impact canyoning and the first descent of Mineral and Incognito

Door prizes! You might win a canyon rope, rope bag, chest pocket, canyon keg or a signed copy of the hottest book release of 2021. A big THANK YOU to our generous donors: Kevin Clark, Norhex, Imlay Canyon Gear, Bluewater Ropes, and The Mountaineers.

Free beer! Non-alcoholic bevvies will be available as well.

Descender tryouts! Learn about the pros/cons of popular and obscure descenders, and then try them out for yourself!

FAQ

What are your COVID-19 precautions?

Everyone ages 12 and older will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. We will be verifying vaccination status upon arrival following the Washington State Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination Status guidelines. An ID check is not required to verify vaccination status. We will be hosting the event in an indoor space with capacity for 500 and limiting attendance to 100. We will use both indoor and outdoor spaces if weather allows. While indoors, we will make efforts to socially distance ourselves when possible. Masks are optional, unless you are under the age of 12, in which case they are required.

Who is invited to join?

All canyoners, aspiring canyoners, and their families are welcome. That includes you, Oregon and BC! There will be lots for everyone to do, although we will not have any specifically kid-friendly activities prepared.

Is there a way to keep food warm or reheat food for the potluck?

We appreciate you bringing something to share! There will be a microwave available as well as plenty of outlets for slow cookers. We do not have an oven for reheating.

How can I help the event be more environmentally friendly?

We love that you asked! Please consider bringing your own plate/bowl, utensils, and cup/water bottle. We will also have plenty of disposables available.

Are you really mixing free beer with playing on rope?

No, of course not! This will be a dry event while we’re playing on rope. Once the beers come out with dinner, we’ll ask everyone to stay on the ground for the rest of the evening. Safety first!
