Exploring the Salish Sea by Surf Ski

Exploring the Salish Sea by Surf Ski

The Seattle Sea Kayak Committee are excited to have Rob Casey author of recently published "Paddling the Salish Sea" join us to talk about Surf Ski touring. Rob will also talk about the new routes in the book and the changes he discovered since his first book.
191 ( 200 capacity)

The Salish Sea has been explored by it's inhabitants for thousands of years for food, shelter and recreation and Rob has shared this rich history with us in his latest book.

Rob grew up in this area and has spent his life exploring and pushing the boundaries, he can often be found surfing freighter and tug boat waves off of Shilshole or riding the currents of Deception Pass on a Stand Up Paddle board.

Surf ski touring is becoming more accessible as manufactures are now making stable surf skis with storage for gear, these craft are generally lighter and faster than Sea Kayaks.  Rob will tell us about his shift from a Sea Kayak to Surfski and how it changed his experience on the water.
