Skiing/winter walking in the Alps
Enjoy sun shinning on the sharp ragged peaks, new snow, small, intimate, family hosted and run hotels. All three areas have lifts up to 11,000 Ft. There are wide, groomed slopes for all levels of skiing and large areas of off-piste lift-assisted skiing. For walkers there are miles of groomed walking trails. The first week spoils you with ski-in/ski-out from the hotel. Their indoor swimming pool looks out onto the ski slope and has views of the spectacular peaks. The chef prepares exquisite family style meals.
Les Arcs and La Plagne are on opposite sides of the valley connected via a double-decker gondola with no support intermediate poles (similar to Whistler). With a 6 day dowhn-hill ski pass, XC skiing and equipment is free. The second week vaal d'sere, is the favorite ski resort of international skiers. If there is a good drop of new snow, a guide can be hired to explore the back-country. Val d'sere even has an underground metro to take you up to the middle of one of the 3 ski areas here. All these areas are huge. The combined area of the 5 largest ski areas in is still smaller than Val d'sere. It is unbelievable how large the area is on just one ski pass. You can not ski the whole area in one day. In Val d'sere our hotel is a "ski-in" hotel. The hotel is in the very center of the village.
