Dehydrating Backcountry Food & Snacks - Tacoma - 2025

Backpacking Course

Dehydrating Backcountry Food & Snacks

Learn about dehydrating food for your hiking and backpacking adventures!

Are you ready to leave the pre-packaged world of freeze-dried meals behind and prepare your own tasty meals and snacks? Join us for an in depth look at food dehydration and learn how you can take your home-cooked meals and snacks in the outdoors with you.

This two-part course will include an online classroom where students will learn the basics of food dehydration and an in-person workshop to dive deeper into food preparation, handling, and packaging in a small group environment. Students will have an opportunity to taste test then receive recipes for snacks and meals demonstrated during the workshop so you can be certain that the foods you prepare independently will be tried and true. Vegetarian and vegan options will be included.

Students enrolled in this course are expected to attend both the online classroom and the in-person workshop. There will be no alternative to record the in-person workshop and watch it later.  Refunds will not be given on or after April 10.
