Considered one of the crown jewels, this hike is a Washington classic. There are breathtaking summit views in the heart of the North Cascades from a historic fire lookout, perched precipitously above a lake. This hike is appropriate for experienced hikers comfortable with light scrambling. We’ll hike together at a steady, conversational pace and take 5 min breaks every 1,000’ elevation gain. Please request leader permission and tell me about your recent hiking experience and comfort with exposure. WTA Hike Description

From Cascade River Road, Forest Service 1540 is a steep, rutted, rocky road 4.5 miles to the trailhead. High clearance vehicle highly advised. We will coordinate carpooling. NW Forest or Interagency Pass required.

Micro-spikes and trekking poles required in the event we encounter snow at higher elevations.

More details will be provided to registered participants. If you would like to be Co/Assistant Leader, please contact me.
