This class is designed for those wanting some trail first aid training, but unable to participate in Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Mountaineer Oriented First Aid (MOFA) classes. I am a physician who has completed both WFA and MOFA but because of the limited scope of this course, you will not obtain any special certification or badge. It is also meets the minimum requirement for first aid and emergency medical training to becoming a volunteer hike and backpacking leader although either MOFA or WFA are required eventually for Tacoma Branch leaders.
General topics covered include: Prevention of illness and injury, Assessment and treatment of common illnesses or injuries, Recommendations concerning items for a personal first aid kit.
Required Equipment
Leader will send out an email to all participants 2-3 days prior to the clinic which will include the powerpoint slides.
