COMMENT: Sorry but this clinic will be cancelled if sign-up is 5 participants or less. It is scheduled every 4-6 weeks over the next few months so you will have another chance to schedule this class in the near future.
This class is designed for those wanting trail first aid training, but unable to participate in Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Mountaineer Oriented First Aid (MOFA) classes. I am a physician who has completed MOFA but because of the limited scope of this course, you will not obtain any special certification or badge. It is also meets the minimum requirement for first aid and emergency medical training to becoming a volunteer hike and backpacking leader although either MOFA or WFA are required eventually for Tacoma Branch leaders.
General topics covered include: Prevention of illness and injury, Assessment and treatment of common illnesses or injuries, Recommendations concerning items for a personal first aid kit.
The fee is $10 for Members and $20 for non-members but it is free for those who are working towards completion of all requirements to become a volunteer hike or backpack leader. Promo code required to waive the fee; contact me at lisa.mcpeak@gmail.com for the code. (Any fees collected are donated to the Tacoma Hiking and Backpacking Committee which is always working to enrich all hiking and backpacking activities for the greater Tacoma community!)
Required Equipment
Leader will send out an email to all participants 2-3 days prior to the clinic which will include the powerpoint slides.
