LET"S GO SAILING!!
This course will give the students an opportunity to learn basic crewing skills, nomenclature of a keelboat/sailboat, basic sail trim, points of sail, basic water safety while on a sailboat, what to wear and what gear you will need, learning basic knots and an introduction to navigation. Most importantly we hope you will leave with a new love of wind and sail!
To achieve the Sailing Badge students must attend 3 "in class" sessions that will meet for 3 consecutive Mondays, April 6, 13th and 20th. Classes will be 2 hours 1830-2030.
Students will be required to complete 2 sails the first 2 weeks of the course. Times to be determined. There will be 2 more sails that students will need to complete no later than June 28th. We will discuss this more in detail during the classroom sessions.
**Students will be required to purchase the book Basic Keelboat by US Sailing. It can be purchased on Amazon.com for approximately $14.00. This book is required at the "in class" sessions and will be referenced for the quizzes.
