Youth Program

Summer Camp - Teen Adventures: Rock Climbing

Teens age 13-17 join us for a multi-day climbing and camping adventure! All experience levels welcome.

Teens age 13-17 have the chance to join us for teen adventure camp! Participants will spend one day at our Program Center in Tacoma learning climbing basics, such as top-roping, belaying, rappelling, knots, and anchors. On our second day, we'll pack our bags and head out to the crags for 3 days of outdoor climbing and 2 nights of camping nearby.

This week is open to any skill/experience level of climber. Participants will have a large variety of routes to choose from, so we can accommodate different levels of challenge. Participants may have to hike up to 1 mile and 1,000' of elevation gain with 30 pound packs to reach certain climbing areas.

Skills learned at this camp will differ based on camper's levels of experience and desired challenge, but may include:

Top-roping

Mock-leading on bolts

Leading on bolts

Rappelling

Cleaning a sport anchor

Lead belaying

Anchor building

Rescue skills
